Ongoing Food Drives
- Rutgers Hillel
Hillel has launched a continuing food collection drive around their annual mid-November Day Without Hate and Cultural Extravaganza awareness programs. The Hillel house maintains a collection bin and the members are working with Elijah's Promise on speaker programs and community outreach.
For more information, contact Julia Selznick at selz.julia@gmail.com.
- Iota Phi Theta Fraternity Food Drive
Hunger Here at Home is an ongoing drive to collect several hundred pounds of food by the holiday season to be donated to the Community FoodBank of New Jersey. In addition, the brothers are working with Winter Wishes to create wrapped boxes of food as gifts to be taken directly to families' homes in New Brunswick. The brothers are very passionate about this campaign "because many of us are coming from unfortunate backgrounds in which poverty and hunger are very prevalent."
For more information, contact Joseph Johnson at jojohn27@gmail.com.
- Sigma Lambda Beta Fraternity Food Drive
Sigma Lambda Beta Fraternity will conduct a food drive from January to April, discounting cover charges at events in exchange for food donations during the Spring 2009 semester. The conclusion of the event will feature a competition between student organizations to create the best can structure/sculpture possible. This can-struction event may be linked to related initiatives on Rutgers Day, April 25th, throughout the university.
