Want to learn more about the impact of college food insecurity? THIS EVENT ON JAN. 29TH IS FOR YOU!

January 19, 2018 by Rutgers Against Hunger

BASIC NEEDS INSECURITY IN NEW JERSEY

HIGHER EDUCATION

Please join us on Monday, January 29 from 1 to 5 PM at Rutgers University as we explore how New Jersey colleges and universities can address food and housing insecurity in a sustainable way.  Hear about the lived experiences of basic needs insecurity from students and administrators, followed by a panel discussion on solutions to college food insecurity.  Engage in conversation about policy, advocacy and research with colleagues from across New Jersey.

Our panel includes Dr. Sara Goldrick-Rab, Professor of Higher Education Policy & Sociology at Temple University, and Founder of the Wisconsin HOPE Lab, the nation’s only translational research laboratory seeking ways to make college more affordable. She is best known for her innovative research on food and housing insecurity in higher education, having led the two largest national studies on the subject, and for her work on making public higher education free. Her latest book is Paying the Price: College Costs, Financial Aid, and the Betrayal of the American Dream (University of Chicago, 2016). Chronicle of Higher Education calls her “a defender of impoverished students and a scholar of their struggles,” and she is ranked 10th in the nation among education scholars according to Education Week.

We hope you can join us at this FREE event.  Parking information will be provided with confirmation.
